Description
A copy of a map of the oldest part of Marblehead including the shipyards to just beyond Chestnut Street. I shows all of the buildings with labels for most of them. It is dated 1879 but it does not show Abbot Hall and it does show buildings in the areas burnt out by the fire in 1877. i.e. the Congregational Church at the corner of School & Essex Streets. At the top it has a "Business Directory" with one Glue Manufacturer, 18 Shoe Manufacturer, two Real Estate Brokers, two bank cashiers, a P.M. (Postmaster?), two drug stores, and 17 other businesses of various kinds. See 2003-021-027 for a better copy
