| Journal of the Reception Committee for the Celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the Town starting date January 16th, 1899. Book contains minutes of two meetings. First meeting on 16 Jan 1899 and second meeting on 20 Feb 1899. and nothing further. Members of the committee: John G. Broughton, Chairman of Selectmen;John G. Broughton; Samuel Roads, Jr.; Emery Brown; N. A. Lindsey; and Thomas Swasey. At the 20 Feb 1899 Mr Roads' committee on a design for a town seal recommended as a basis for it "Washington crossing the Delaware" They recommended a budget of the following; Invitations to include seal $75.00 Carriages $50.00 Seal (sic) $25.00 Entertainment of guest $100.00 |
