| Abstract |
The May 17, 1918 edition of the Marblehead Messenger, a "Special Red Cross Edition" announcing a collection to be taken town wide for the American Red Cross. This was during the First World War. The collection was to start at 7 P.M. with a signal on the fire Alarm of 5-5 (five blast of the fire horn on the fire station followed by five more. The 5-5 signal represents Marblehead quota of $5,500 to be raised. The front page had a red cross printed as a background. |
