Marblehead Junior High Archives Historical Building Survey
In 1664 Lee Street was a highway. It was called "King's Highway in 1725 and it was called "the Street Leading Down to Nick's Cove" in 1793. The easterly part of the street was then called "the Highway to the Fish Fence near Nick's Cove" in 1796. It was next named "The Way Leading from Boden's Lookout to Free Masonk Hall" in 1835. The house was given the name "The Old Dwelling House" when it was divided (in 1758) into two sections. By 1760 the house had started to deteriorate and part of it was gone. The part of the house still standing was called "A Piece of the Old Dwelling". It was eventually taken down by Dr. Devereux and a new house was built - 50 Lee Street.
