Marblehead Jr. High Archives Historical Building Survey
This house on 22 Merritt Street was owned by a fisherman of Marblehead. It is the oldest house on Merritt Street and has one of the oldest doors in Marblehead. The lot was given to Henry Russell in about 1670. When he died in 1686, his estate was granted to his widow, Elizabeth. She then married Jacob Knight. Mrs. Knight died in 1690. The daughters, Sarah, Mary and Elizabeth leased their land sections to their brother, Henry Russell.
