Marblehead Jr. High Archives Historical Building Survey
The Standley-Atkins House is a simple example of an Early American House. In 1700, when this house wasn't standing, a man named John Riddan owned the property. He bought it from the Town of Marblehead and owned it until 1719 when he died. Orne Street was called The Highway back then. in 1789 the owner, Joseph Lee, had just died and a man named Joshua Prentiss was appointed administrator of the estate and a part of this house was bid on at a public auction. Mr. William Standley, a fisherman, bought this part of the house.
