Record 3324/5355 Catalog Record Archives Exhibit Page Home Search Description  Marblehead Jr. High Archives Historical Building Survey Pickett Street is named after Moses Allen Pickett. He lived on 10 Franklin Street. He was a shop owner and had the reputation of being a miser. He died in 1853. (The same year the street was named after him). He left his house to the poor of Marblehead after he died. It is still occupied by widows who are natives of Marblehead, - at the discretion of the Selectmen. At the corner of Pickett and Washington Streets is the Major John Pedrick House. He was a merchant prince and a Revolutionary War hero. The house was built in 1756. The house at 8 Pickett Street was built around 1851 and had many owners. One of the owners was the Old North Church.
