Abstract Marblehead Jr. High Archives Historical Building Survey

This home at 228 Washington Street is historically important because at one time Wm. Broughton, whose brother Nicholas was the Captain of the Hannah, lived here. Also, Captain Meek added an addition to the house, and his two brothers, who lived up the street, were also sailors aboard the Marblehead frigate, Hannah. When William Broughton lived in this house, he owned and ran a tavern, located in what is now the Gambrel part of the house.
