Gherardi Rear Admiral, US Navy Commandant, U.S. Navy Yard, Boston to Miss Madeline Orne, 32 Mugford Street, Marblehead, Massachusetts. It notes that she has been designated as sponsor of the USS Mugford being built at the Boston Navy Yard. He also notes that the date for the launching was not known at that time but he would communicate with her when a date was set.
