Description 
The state legislature passed a law in 1843 requiring corporations to send a list of stock holders to the assessors of each town residing in the town together with the number of shares and the value of them. A letter from the state treasurer requiring $427.50 from the town to be paid to the state. This act was titled "An Act for the more equal Assessment of Taxes" List of banks and corporations in this file dated 1 May 1846. For a list of companies see Notes.
