| Abstract |
The state legislature passed a law in 1843 requiring corporations to send a list of stock holders to the assessors of each town residing in the town together with the number of shares and the value of them.
This act was titled "An Act for the more equal Assessment of Taxes"

This file contains 70 notices from various corporations to the assessors of Marblehead listing the names and quantities of shares of socks with the corporations. One is a printed list of coporations witha quote of offered and asked prices for the week ending April 29, 1856.
