| Abstract |
The CD is titled "Massachusetts Shore Leave" Part 1. On November 8, 1944 the Army Signal Corps came to Marblehead for four days to film a short fictional account of a sailor returning home for shore leave. The resulting short picture film has six and a half minutes of Marblehead-based narrative in a nine-minute film. The two page story accompanying the CD is titled "About Massachusetts Shore Leave" and tells the background of the early days of WWII and the Army Pictorial Service that was created as a branch of the Army Signal Corps. The fictional story is of a sailor coming home on shore leave to Marblehead "where they say the US Navy was born". |
