| Abstract |
This booklet, titled The Story of Marblehead, is dedicated to the students of Marblehead schools that they may know and carry on the glorious traditions in the spirit and unique character of this community. The history of Marblehead divides into three epochs. The first is made up of the years when men "went down to the sea in ships" and won their living by fishing and commerce; the second, when the town became a manufacturing community and a rival of Lynn in the shoe business; and third the later years, when the town became a summer resort and the home of men who earned their living in nearby cities.
Marblehead was settled in 1629. |
