| Abstract |
An invoice for a load of fish brought to Barcelona by Capt. Samuel Pote of Marblehead on the ship Woodbridge in the year 1767. The weight of quintals (measured fish by weight - it was variable) for Baccallo (dried salt cod) was 2,780. The brokerage fee was 2.5% and Capt. Pote was paid in lbs. (3,265#, 2 shillings and 9 pence). There were also charges for pilotage, mule hire and expenses for guard watching. The net proceeds were 2,780 lbs. |
