Abstract Marblehead Junior High Archives Historical Building Survey

During the time when Marblehead was a shipping center, William Hawkes, a sea captain, built this house as a warehouse which he used for storage in his sea going business. Deed search was complicated by the fact that the building had been a warehouse before it was a residence and Goodwins Court was not even included in the official history of Marblehead or on early town survey maps. The William Brown's (who bought the home from William Hawkes) kept 10 Goodwins Ct. in their family for almost 80 years by either willing it or just passing it to other family members.
