Marblehead Jr. High Archives Historical Building Survey This one family residence at 27 Summer Street has a cordwainer's shop in back yard, bay window on left side, bull's eye windows and a half-pitched, half-flat roof line. The interior has a front staircase, H & L hinges on first floor and original floor boards. This house has been owned by a cordwainer (Thomas Proctor), a mariner (Francis Hiter) and many fishermen. Owners of the land have often been associated with St. Stephen's Church across the street. St. Michael's and St. Stephen's churches are located on this street; the gravestones and sepulcher of St. Michael's Church and the Shirley Smethurst House.
