| Description |
Black & white photo of USS Marblehead moored fore and aft in an unidentified harbor. Moored close by are two merchant ships. One named "Urola" with a large black "B" on a white background on her stack. She is painted black. The other is slightly smaller, black with a white boottop. Around these ships are several small boats and a tugboat. In the middleground there is a mole, with a road, projecting out to protect the harbor. On the land side of the mole (in the center of the photo) there is a white lighthouse and several white buildings. Alongside of the mole, inside the harbor are 8 smaller ships or fishing boats, one of which hase a large crane. In the distance, still inside the harbor, is a crowded small boat marina. On the back of the photo is written "U.S.S. Marblehead, launched 1925 Philly, Pa., lived thru WW2 allthough shot up Made it back to the West Coast in one piece" and "1925" |
