Description
"Report of the committee appointed at the annual meeting March 10, 1873, to Ascertain the amount of outstanding bills contracted by the Board of Selectmen, and to examine the accounts of the Board of Health, of Marblehead" This committee approved the bills of the Selectmen but with several recommendation as to future procedures. The committee reviewed the accounts of the Board of Health and compared the amounts bill for various goods and services with cost in Boston, Cambridge and Salem. The most of the cost to the Board of Health appear to be due to and outbreak of Small Pox. Some of bills ($1940.86) were approved by the committee but a nearly equal amount ($1301.99) were not approved. This report is a good source of the cost of items in 1873.
