Marblehead -- Cancellation date is September 8, 1935 from Duane Church Printed on the envelope is: U.S.S Marblehead Light Cruiser No. 12, Greetings on her 11th Birthday, Authorized Aug. 29, 1916 together with Act of July 1, 1918, Keel laid Aug. 4, 1920, Launched Oct. 9, 1924, Commissioned Sept 8, 1924, Built by Wm. Cramp & Sons, Trial displacement 7,241 tons, Trial speed 34.42 knots, Armaments: Main- 11 6 inch 53 caliber guns; secondary-4 3 inch 50 caliber anti-aircraft guns, 2 3 pounders saluting, and 2 21 inch triple torpedo tubes on deck. Named in honor of the City of Marblehead, Mass., Third vessel so called. compiled by John J. Haag
