| Abstract |
Copy of letter of introduction from W. C. Gorgas of the US War Department, Office of the Surgeon General to Sir Alfred Keogh, Director General, Royal Army Medical Corps in London, England . It was to introduce Dr. Goldthwait as a member of a group of 20 orthopedic surgeons who are going to England to study with Col. Robert Jones an orthopedic surgeon in England in preparation for the introduction of American troops in the war in Europe. At the end of his studies Dr. Goldthwait is to return to the Unite States for duty there. This carbon copy is on the office stationary of Dr. Goldthwait. It is dated a little more than a month after the US declared war. |
