Dated June 15, 1940, Shanghai, China The Cover has a drawing of a coolie with a rickshaw, a junk , the motor whaleboat from "Marby" #8 and a calender for June 1940 with 15 circled. Page 1)This page contains The Masthead, (a newspaper term for info on the publisher, editors etc.) it also contains the beginning of an article on the Marblehead II (the USS Marblehead that served in the Spanish War) and a cartoon. Page 2) This page contains several items from 20 years previous 1. the new Giro compass, 2. USS Wyoming replacing USS New York as flagship of the Atlantic Fleet, 3. Japanese Admiral Dewa's visit to Panama and the United States, 4. a speech by Franklin D. Roosevelt Assistant Secretary of the Navy at the Naval Academy. Also on this page are some jokes, two poems and an illustrated advertisement for the ship's 5th Shanghai Dance. Page 3)This page has the ship's gossip and a drawing of a woman with the words "I Vonder Vot's keeping the MARBLEHEAD sailors?" Page 4) This page contains "The Story of the U.S.S. MARBLEHEAD II" which was started on page 1in the form of a report of the Commanding Officer USS Marblehead to the Commander in Chief, North Atlantic Station.
