| Description |
B&W photo taken c. 1900 of the Wiggins Family - see 1961-002-03546. The photo is taken on a beach, presumably in Marblehead. There are 14 people in the photograph. Note that on the back of the photo, the family name is spelled "Wiggens". Town directories of 1886, 1900 and 1914 spell the name both ways. None of the people in the photo are specifically identified. In 1886, Thomas P. Wiggins was listed in the Naumkeag Marblehead Directory as living in a house on Reed St., with Benjamin B. boarding there. Based on the above referenced photo, this is the family pictured here. In the 1899-1900 Directory, these two were listed as Wiggins, at 18 Reed St. And, in the 1914 Directory, Only Benjamin B. Wiggen is listed, and now residing at Smith St., near Atlantic Ave. Mary E. Wiggen, widow of Thomas P. is listed as boarding at 11 Phillips St. |
