Letter to Mrs. Bowden with an embossed crown and word "Victoria" in the upper left corner. Letter reads as follows:
"Marblehead Jan 18th
Mrs. Bowden
I take the present opportunity to acknowledge the receipt of your note and the enclosed for which accept my thanks. Be assured that I appreciate your kindness but would rather not accept the money. I think the Society unable to make the allowance and cheerfully return it to you.
Respectfully yours,
