A wooden device apparently used in a clamping operation. It consist of two pieces of wood (probably maple), a carriage bolt, wing nut and washer. The first piece of wood containing the carriage bolt is 5 1/2" long, 1 27/32" wide, and 1/2" thick with a hole in the center for the 3/8 carriage bolt. The other piece of wood is 5 1/2" long, 1 27/32 wide, and 1 7/8" thick and has a hole 7/16" in diameter for the carriage bold. Both ends of this piece have been cut on a band saw and finished with a chisel into a cone shape. The carriage bolts are standard 3/8"- 16 4 3/8" long bolts with a 1"- 7/16" flat washer and 3/8" wing nut. The use for this item is unknown but it may have been used in construction of boats, airplanes or shoes. |
