| Abstract |
A booklet made from 30 pages photo copied from the original of the Marblehead School Report 1883-4 It contains statistics for the school years 1883-1884. It had long articles on Discipline and Teachers. Names of schools, teachers and graduates form the various schools. The school system was divided into one High school, three Grammar schools, a Farm school and ten Primary schools.
The High School was the Marblehead Academy, with a principal and an assistant. It had two courses of study a four year course and a business course. The Grammar Schools were Story, Gerry, and Sewall. The Story and Gerry had five assistants and the Sewell had three. The Farm School was renamed the Glover School in later years. The Primary Schools were Barnard, Cowell, Glover, Lee, Marchant, Mugford,Orne, Sewall, Tucker, and Washington. The Farm School and the Primary schools each had one teacher. |
