Abstract Marblehead Junior High Archives Historical Building Survey

The lot at 137 Front Street belonged to John Deveraux before July 1678 at which time he conveyed it to a Marblehead cordwainer Vinson Stillson. He conveyed the southern part of the lot to Mr Ingalls who died in 1717. The house and barn were standing at this time but how or when the building was destroyed is unknown. We do know that by the year 1810 Charles Martin built a house on that lot and that house is still standing today. Charles Martin helped bring cannons to Fort Sewall in War of 1812. There is a legend about the floor boards. It is said they are from Cannon crates that were being brought to Fort Sewall.
