The contents of report labeled "Report of Auditing Committee 1839" The Committee on Towns Accounts, to whom was recommitted their first report with instructions to revise and make additions Thereto - Ask leave further to report, That they were unable to obtain a statement Of the Contracts entered into, on account Of the Town and remaining unpaid, in season for their printed report. your Committee are also aware that they will be expected to assign a reason why an account setting forth the Debits & Assets of the Town is not included- I in reply will only say, that owing to various causes it was found utterly impracticable to present any other than a very imperfect statement & that therefore the omission of this important item was their only alternative. The Committee ask to be discharged from the further consideration of the subject referred to them.
