Marblehead Junior High Archives Historical Building Survey
Ambrose Gale bought the land upon which he built his house in 1660 and he built the house in 1663. He had two wives: his first was Mary Ward, whom he married in 1665. She died in 1694. In the same year as his wife's death, he married Deborah Girdler. Captain Azor Gale was the grandson of Ambrose Gale. He lived in Marblehead from 1699 to 1710. He dealt heavily with real estate and went to sea for a few years. His gravestone is on Old Burial Hill. |
