The Cover has a drawing of a two men undergoing gas attack training in a gas chamber.
Page 1)This page contains The Masthead, (a newspaper term for info on the publisher, editors etc.) It also contains a short history of the islands titled "Ligero En Filipinas" by Geo. C. Bates.
Page 2) This page continues the previous history plus articles about the baseball and softball teams and a poem "If Dust be my Destiny" by The Forester.
Page 3) This page has an articles about replacement sailors from the US having lower rates than the men being replaced but the possibilities of advancement are better in the Asiatic fleet being better than in the States. This is important as advancement in the pre WWII navy was very slow. The bottom half of the page had a poem about a near collision at sea titled "Sail Ho" by Herman the Vermin.
Page 4) This page contains the ship's previous week's schedule written in misspelled words. It also had an half page of gossip. |
