| Description |
A B&W photo of Devereaux Lane taken on July 23, 1891. It shows two women leaning on a stone wall next to the road. The road is dirt and lined on one side with large trees. At that time, according to the Naumkeag Directories of 1886 and 1899, there was only a Devereux St. in Marblehead - which ran from Pleasant St. to Valley Rd. (which no longer exists). So, it is probable that this photo is of the present Devereux Street - note the street name spelling error in the photo description. |
